And They Lived Happily Ever After...

10:00 AM

This is what the last page of every  fairytale book is always written. But I am wondering if it is for
real.

Televisions now a day produces reality dating shows or even dramas that produces different love stories. We all know that it is scripted but on reality shows, participating artists always say they are actually true. Who artists would be in their right minds to contradict this statement if they are going to harvest ample money? This shows gives everybody a candle light of hope that they would find their soulmates or if unfortunate, their perfect match.

Some people believe on these characters inside the N inches of boxes that they really do exist. But trust me, they are just characters to hypnotize our minds to believe that somebody perfectly like on this boxes really exist in this world.

Take for example, the famous Dao Ming Tze, leader of F4 on the famous asian telenovela Meteor Garden. I remembered he was a very tough person with a strong personality. But when it comes to the apple of his eyes Sang Chai, he became weak and fight for forbidden love. Forbidden love and fighting for love is not new to us because it really happened in real life but what is surreal in the story is that everything is really surreal. Starting from the Dao Ming mansion to the elite school to their surrounding and everything seems so fairytale but live version. Although I admit fixed marriages is still alive nowadays. Please bear in mind, that the places are taken in different places. Sometimes on studios and if the producers needed to tighten their belts, on paper towers and just let photoshop or high technology of golden hands do the work.

There is also this traditional trend on television that the actors loved each other since childhood or that they are both strangers whom has just had love at first sight. Then, there is also this story wherein the lead actress would suffer from a certain disease or disorder which is really terminally serious but eventually would be alive because of the love she received from her partner. This is all so cliché! Can’t any body write something more practical and believable? Something what is truly seen in our environment which is not in the norms (I mean the traditional ways) because as I can see on the televisions, the titles are just renamed, the actresses are not the same maybe some are just younger versions since the original actors are not capable already (old or decease), the plot is slightly changed but the flow of the story is still the same since eons ago. What a shame!

As what I said earlier, these shows promote that everybody should live in their ideals and expectations. But expectations are the product of giving up and ideals aren’t true. Ideals usually fit us emotionally, mentally, socially, physically and every word that ends with –ly. We create ideals to feed us. We create ideals to look up and we create expectations in times of despair. When we don’t meet these ideals and expectations it normally burns us out and sometimes we would opt to give up. But should that it be?

Why should we give up in the first place when we already know what is reality. Yes we can feast our eyes looking at the screen to feed our boredom, to kill the time or just for past time. Yes we can be moved by this shows emotionally but should we live on the scenes of a rug girl turning into a princess, a sleeping girl kissed by a stranger, a young girl living with the strangers or a girl sneaking out to meet a boy?

Do we always have to stick on the phrase “and they live happily ever after”? What if we, should personally write our own stories not because of what we saw or what we hear or what we want. We should write our story beautifully but we should give our pen to God because he alone provides every person in this world with the best love story he could ever have.

Thus I believe everybody has their own story to share. I also believe that these stories end with “and they live happily ever after” but some would just be with tears plus a smile.

P.S. I just hate how this dramas would move me in tears. But I am actually happy that I can clean my eyes freely once in a while
