Look to the LEFT, Look to the RIGHT

School is back and everywhere I look, freshmen are on the
hook. My sister is an incoming freshmen in a different university but my nephew
is going to study in my school. Yay! This is going to be totally fun having him
around.
I, myself have experienced the over excitement of being a
freshmen and the thrill of seeing new faces, being on a different environment
and having to break free from all the knots. But being outside my comfort zone
is also scary for me. So here are some tips that might help you, yes you
freshie and also a friendly reminder to all.
1.
Do not travel in dark streets, alleys and unsafe
shortcuts. As much as possible always travel in or with a group. There is
safety in numbers.
2.
Wait for public transportations in well lighted
areas at night.
3.
In taking a cab, make it a a habit to know the
name of the cab, plate number and the driver’s name If possible. These will be
handy when you forgot something in the cab or when the driver tries to rob you.
4.
Do not flash a lot of cash. Just carry enough.
If possible put them in more than one pocket or purse.
5.
Stay away from riots or commotions especially on
the sidewalks. Pickpockets love such places.
6.
Never put your hand out of the window of the
vehicle when traveling. Your watch can be snatched, ring pulled or hand hit by
other vehicles.
7.
On paydays or allowance days, it is not safe to
take a drink or two as you may end up broke or a victim of pickpockets or
racketeers.
8.
Hold your bag, purse or package firmly. Never
leave them on counters, seats or any place where they can be stolen or
snatched.
9.
Never give your personal information to
strangers. Do not be gullible to anyone who wants to befriend you or who seems
to know you. A smile won’t hurt them though.
10.
Always be watchful when crossing the streets.
Use pedestrian lanes (jay walking is nice too) if it is available. If you are
on a busy road without lanes, ask the assistance of a traffic officer or anyone
experienced.
